About

Approaching a glaze recipe as a mix of oxides rather than a mix of minerals, enables a more fundamental understanding of glaze chemistry. This way of looking at glazes frees us from using only specific minerals to supply the oxide needs of any given glaze recipe. We could substitute different or local minerals to satisfy the same oxide combination.

Our program empowers participants to arrive at optimal oxide ratios in a glaze recipe and understand the role these oxides play in influencing glaze texture, durability, colour and temperature.

Participants will be introduced to  simple software tools and calculators to predict , analyze and fine tune  glazes.
